Special Diabetes Program for Indians

The diabetes epidemic among American Indians and Alaska Natives, Congress established the SDPI grant programs in 1997. This $150 million annual grant program, coordinated by IHS Division of Diabetes with guidance from the Tribal Leaders Diabetes Committee, provides funds for diabetes treatment and prevention to IHS, Tribal, and Urban Indian health programs across the United States. Yerington Paiute Tribal Health Clinic has a team of qualified staff members to coordinate and implement clinical diabetes care and oversight as well as physical fitness activities and challenges. The clinic provides routine care to manage and/or provide interventions of diabetic and other chronic care conditions. Our diabetic clinic focuses on diabetic care issues, exams, labs, screenings, education, and medication management.
